Is Branding Yourself Going To Help Your Business?

You have been told that in order to build a customer base you are going to have to brand yourself across the web. This includes setting up social profiles and networking with other marketers in the industry. On the one hand this seems like a great option and on the other it kind of puts you in a tight position.

Once you start putting your name out into the social influence meter you become a target for every other business recruiter known to man, now you will be upselled and contacted for joint ventures and if you agree to participate then it will be your turn to do the favor.

I have read blogs about industry leaders who found themselves being constantly emailed about opportunities and biz opportunities that they almost felt compelled to comply only to be left feeling used. Because once you commit to cross promoting your offer to a top producers list then it will be expected of you to do the same.

This could be mutually beneficial at first but you will have to be careful that people are not trying to build a business off your efforts. Especially if you are good at building lists and teams or you are good at driving traffic these skills can be exploited if they end up in the wrong hands.

Just remember it is nice to have your name in lights and to be famous in the marketing world but it comes at a price and you have to know if you are ready for such a drain on your time and resources.
